Ich liebte den Rid\u00addim schon immer, seit ich das Orig\u00adi\u00adnal von 1968, \u201dTake A Ride\u201d von <a href=\"https:\/\/riddim.world\/mystaging01\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2504\">Al Camp\u00adbell<\/a>, geh\u00f6rt hat\u00adte. Schon damals dachte ich mir, dass ich den Rid\u00addim eines Tages voicen w\u00fcrde. Ich hat\u00adte auch schon in den 60ern mein Gl\u00fcck bei <a href=\"https:\/\/riddim.world\/mystaging01\/de\/tag\/studio-one-de\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2217\">Stu\u00addio One<\/a> ver\u00adsucht. F\u00fcnf Jahre lang, um genau zu sein. Immer wieder latschte ich son\u00adntags zum Vorsin\u00adgen in die Brent\u00adford Road. Ich wollte unbe\u00add\u00adingt bei Stu\u00addio One einen Fu\u00df in die T\u00fcr bekom\u00admen. Aber jedes\u00admal war die Schlange an wartenden S\u00e4ngern so lang, dass ich nie dazu kam, <a href=\"https:\/\/riddim.world\/mystaging01\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2636\">Cox\u00adsone<\/a> meine Songs vorzusin\u00adgen. Entwed\u00ader been\u00addete er die Ses\u00adsion, bevor ich an der Rei\u00adhe war, oder ich ging gle\u00adich wieder mein\u00ader Wege, weil sofort klar war, dass es keinen Sinn machte zu warten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p class=\"responsive-video-wrap clr\"><iframe title=\"Al Campbell - Take A Ride + Version (Take a Ride\/Truth and Rights riddim)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GIs2L4cSRvo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8f8c0f4d705494bc5ea01f5ecc30a3df\">Dabei wollte ich unbe\u00add\u00adingt mit Cox\u00adsone Dodd arbeit\u00aden, denn ich hielt ihn f\u00fcr etwas Beson\u00adderes. Es hei\u00dft immer, Stu\u00addio One sei das Motown, Cox\u00adsone der Bar\u00adry Gordy Jamaikas. Aber f\u00fcr mich war Stu\u00addio One immer viel mehr. Ich h\u00e4tte mich jeden\u00adfalls sehr schlecht gef\u00fchlt, wenn ich in meinem Leben nicht die M\u00f6glichkeit bekom\u00admen h\u00e4tte, dort aufzunehmen. Ich wusste, wenn mir das gelingt, dann habe ich mir meinen gr\u00f6\u00dften Traum erf\u00fcllt, selb\u00adst wenn danach nichts mehr kommt, kann ich zufrieden mit mein\u00ader Kar\u00adriere sein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2305b3e10b5f528f7e34480ff10b5133\">1969 wan\u00adderte ich dann nach Kana\u00adda aus, wo die Reg\u00adgae-Szene allerd\u00adings sehr beschaulich war. Ich hat\u00adte das Gef\u00fchl, es gibt dort nicht genug f\u00fcr mich zu tun. Klar, ich hat\u00adte meine Band, I\u2011Shen Peo\u00adple, mit der ich zwei Alben f\u00fcr GRT Records machte und zwei Som\u00admer lang als Vor\u00adgruppe von Blood Sweat &amp; Tears tourte. Aber ich hat\u00adte das Gef\u00fchl, das mehr f\u00fcr mich drin ist, weshalb ich 1979 nach Jamai\u00adka zur\u00fcck\u00adkehrte. Ich wollte zur\u00fcck in den Reg\u00adgae-Main\u00adstream. Das ging nur dort. Nun war es ein Leicht\u00ades, einen Fu\u00df in die T\u00fcr von Stu\u00addio One zu bekom\u00admen. Bevor ich nach Kana\u00adda aus\u00adge\u00adwan\u00addert war, hat\u00adte ich ja f\u00fcr Tech\u00adniques das Album \u201dCome Back Dar\u00adling\u201d aufgenom\u00admen. Man kan\u00adnte mich also in Jamai\u00adka. Deswe\u00adgen brauchte ich mich dies\u00admal bei Stu\u00addio One nicht in eine Schlange zu stellen, brauchte nicht mal vorsin\u00adgen. Ich trat die T\u00fcr ein und marschierte schnurstracks in den Auf\u00adnah\u00admer\u00adaum, um das Album \u201dTruth &amp; Rights\u201d aufzunehmen, das laut Sta\u00adtis\u00adtik das beste Album mein\u00ader Kar\u00adriere ist. Ich hat\u00adte ein altes T\u2011Shirt dabei, wis\u00adchte den Staub von den Schachteln und h\u00f6rte mir lange immer wieder die alten Rid\u00addims an. Die Worte, die mir dazu ein\u00adfie\u00adlen, kamen von den Rid\u00addims, sie sagten mir, was ich sin\u00adgen soll. Ich brauchte nicht mal etwas aufzuschreiben. Ich h\u00f6rte einen Rid\u00addim und sang, was mir durch den Kopf ging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-71f4ec2f93739bf6af155f9ac9a67484\">Jamai\u00adka befand sich damals am Rande eines B\u00fcrg\u00aderkriegs. Die regierende PNP mit Pre\u00admier\u00admin\u00adis\u00adter Michael Man\u00adley hat\u00adte den Sozial\u00adis\u00admus einge\u00adf\u00fchrt, was der JLP um Edward Sea\u00adga genau\u00adso wenig gefiel wie den USA. Mit deren Hil\u00adfe bek\u00e4mpfte er die Regierung und das Land war tief ges\u00adpal\u00adten. Kingston war wie ein Schachbrett in Parteigar\u00adniso\u00adnen unterteilt, die Stel\u00adlvertreterkriege f\u00fchrten, bei denen viele Men\u00adschen ums Leben kamen. Viele ver\u00adlie\u00dfen das Land, entwed\u00ader weil sie um ihr Leben f\u00fcrchteten oder weil sie ihren Besitz vor den Sozial\u00adis\u00adten in Sicher\u00adheit brin\u00adgen woll\u00adten. Ich wollte nicht direkt auf diese Sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion einge\u00adhen, war aber nat\u00fcr\u00adlich davon gepr\u00e4gt. Ich glaube, daher r\u00fchrt der Vers: \u201d<em>Chil\u00addren say a lit\u00adtle prayer, every night before you go to sleep, \u2018cause tomor\u00adrow is promised to no one. Und wenn du reinen Herzens bist, ist es ohne\u00adhin ein\u00ader\u00adlei, was du am Leib tr\u00e4gst.
