The Abyssinians are considered one of the most important and spiritual roots reggae groups Jamaica has ever produced. Founded in the late 1960s by Bernard Collins and Donald Manning, who were later joined by Linford Manning (Donald’s brother), they defined the “roots” sound with their unique harmonies, profound Rasta themes, and hypnotic melodies. Their first major hit was the song “Satta Massagana,” which quickly became an unofficial reggae anthem; its title comes from the Ethiopian Amharic language and means “give thanks and praise.” Even decades after their first recordings, concerts by The Abyssinians are considered a rare opportunity to experience the true essence of roots reggae live.

Lone Ranger is one of the defining voices of the Jamaican reggae and dancehall scene of the early 1980s. He became famous for his distinctive DJ style and classics like “M16” and “Johnny Make You Bad So.” With his energetic stage presence and authentic roots vibe, he continues to thrill reggae fans worldwide to this day.
