Reggae With Your Feet In The Lake
Switzerland’s largest reggae and world music festival sits right on the shore of Lake Pfäffikon, in the middle of a nature reserve in the Zurich Oberland. Going for a swim between concerts, listening to basslines as the sun sets over the water: here, that’s not a marketing promise but the daily routine. Since its founding in 2004, Reeds has grown organically without losing its grassroots, club-run character – the motto ”It’s a family thing” is genuinely lived: children up to 12 get in free, and on Sunday morning the grounds open free of charge to all families for the kids’ programme ”Reeds for Kids”.
The 2026 line-up can hold its own against any major reggae festival: Alborosie & Shengen Clan headline Saturday, while Sunday brings Tarrus Riley on stage with saxophone legend Dean Fraser and the Black Soil Band. The festival opening on Friday is something special: Swiss singer Samora kicks things off with her project ”Female Reggae Voices” – together with Zoe Mazah and Ammoye. A lovely twist of festival history: in 2018, Samora was herself a participant in this series and got her career breakthrough on the shores of Lake Pfäffikon; in 2026 she returns as its host. Also on the bill: Elijah Salomon, Open Season, Marley’s Ghost & Friends feat. Dellé and more.
Street food from around the world, the Reeds Bazaar and the afterparties at the Chesselhuus village hall round off the weekend. Anyone who has experienced it once understands why so many Swiss reggae fans plan their festival summer around these three days.
