Lila Iké – A Woman Must Do What A Woman Must Do
When we first interviewed her in 2019, Lila Iké had only released three tracks, a few remixes, and some freestyles. But those who knew her already considered her the Lauryn Hill of the Caribbean. Whether sensual, serious, or humorous—her sultry, seductively rich voice, her laid-back melodies, and her nonchalant delivery inspires great admiration even with such a small catalog.
Jah9 – Open Heart Surgery
After a six-year album break, a more mature Jah9 returns with “The Open Heart Project.” On it, she translates her experiences as a young mother and her life in Africa into a narrative about relationships between two people. Ellen Köhlings and Pete Lilly spoke with her at length in Kingston.
